Before filmmaking, before comedy, before anything, my goal was to become a professional musician like my dad. I spent the first half of my life learning how to play the trumpet, and though I never really mastered the horn, boy, did I learn how to blow some hot air.
Primal Screamis a feature-length noir about a hot-headed trumpet player fighting to survive at the end of the big band era. Like a lot of the trumpet players I’d known through my two decades of playing, “Hoagie” is a force of nature. But as he strives to play higher, louder, and faster, the hot air starts to ignite, sending his mental health and family life down in flames.
It’s a film about artists, and the relentless pursuit of perfection in an industry that’s always favoring the next best thing. To inquire about this screenplay, feel free to reach out via domnero@gmail.com.
